SCRIPTURE:  PSALM 119:129-176

MEMORY VERSES:

“Your statutes are wonderful; therefore I obey them.  The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple” (Psalm 119:129-130)

“Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin rule over me” (Psalm 119:133)

“Righteous are you, O Lord, and your laws are right.  The statutes you have laid down are righteous, they are fully trustworthy” (Psalm 119:137-138)

“Look upon my suffering and deliver me, for I have not forgotten your law.  Defend my cause and redeem me; l preserve my life according to your promise” (Psalm 119:153-154)

“All your words are true; all your righteous laws are eternal” (Psalm 119:160)

PSALM 119:-129-136

The statutes of God are wonderful.  It gives light and understanding to escape from conformity to the world.  We need His light to shine upon us so that we can become light in this dark world.

PSALM 119:137-144

Righteousness is the key word of this section.  We need God’s righteousness to become a trustworthy person.  Christians are to practice God’s righteous in this sinful world in order to succeed.

PSALM 119:145-152

The Psalmist was crying to God in prayer.  But he prayed according to His love and His laws.  This helps us to pray in the will of God.

PSALM 119:153-160

The Psalmist asked God to look upon his suffering, defend his cause and redeem him.  Although persecuted by his foes, he did not turned from God’s word.  On the contrary, he loved His statutes and obeyed His word.

PSALM 119:161-168

Obeying God’s word will bring joy to your heart.  That joy is an eternal treasure money cannot buy.  Along with joy, you will also have love, peace and hope.

PSALM 119:169-176

The Psalmist praised God with his lips and sang His word with his tongues.  He told God to teach him his decrees, commands, precepts and law.  Let the Word of God fill your heart and your lips will declare God’s praise.

THOUGHTS:

WHAT MUST WE DO WITH THE WORD OF GOD? (By Warren W. Wiersbe)

  1.  Love it – Rejoice and delight to read it.
  2.  Treasure it – God’s word is more precious than silver, gold or earthly wealth.
  3.  Learn it – His words need an in depth study to grasp the true meaning.  It takes “whole heart” to be able to understand his teachings.
  4.  Memorize it – Memorize God’s word will enable us to fight against the temptation of Satan.
  5.  Meditate on it – To meditate means to feed in God’s word in mind and heart and examine its wonderful truths by comparing Scripture with Scripture.
  6.  Believe it – Trust everything what the Bible says because it is true and can be trusted wholly.  No book in this world can compare with the Bible.
  7.  Obey it – To obey means to put it into practice the commandments in your behavior, dealings and daily walk of life.
  8.  Declare it – Be a witness to others about the Word and tell them what the Lord has done for you.
