SCRIPTURE: PSALM 139
MEMORY VERSES:
“O Lord, you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue, you know it completely, O Lord.” (psalm 13*-9:1-4)
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” (Psalm 139:13-14)
“Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” (Psalm 139:23-24)
HOW FAR DOES GOD KNOW YOU?
- He knows what you do. (v. 5-6)
- He knows when you go. (v. 7-12)
- He knows who you are. (vs. 13-16)
- He knows what you think. (vs. 17-18)
- He knows whom you hate. (vs. 21-22)
- He knows your heart’s desire. (vs. 23-24).
THOUGHTS:
David asked God to search him two times in this chapter (verses 1 & 23) because he wanted God to point out any wrong motives in his heart. If we search our heart and thoughts, sins will be revealed. Then we can repent and ask forgiveness from God.
This Psalm tells us that we can never hide from God because He knows everything we do, say, think or desire. He is an Almighty, all-knowing God that you can trust. You have nothing to fear as long as you follow His leading.
