SCRIPTURE:  PROVERBS 12

MEMORY VERSES:

“Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid.” (Proverbs 12:1)

“A wife of noble character is her husband’s crown, but a disgraceful wife is like decay in his bones.” (Proverbs 12:4)

“A truthful witness gives honest testimony, but a false witness tells lies. (Proverbs 12:17)

“Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.  Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue lasts only a moment.” (Proverbs 12:18-19)

“The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in men who are truthful.” (Proverbs 12:22)

“Diligent hands will rule, but laziness ends in slave labor.” (Proverbs 12:24)

“A righteous man is cautious in friendship, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.” (Proverbs 12:26)

BENEFITS OF BEING A RIGHTEOUS MAN:

  1. He obtains favor from the Lord. (v. 2)
  2.  He cannot be uprooted. (v. 3)
  3.  His house stands firm. (v. 7)
  4.  He is praised according to his wisdom. (v. 8)
  5.  His root flourishes. (v. 12)
  6.  He escapes trouble. (v. 13)
  7.  He is rewarded with good things. (v. 14)
  8.  No harm befalls him. (v. 21)
  9.  He has life with the path of immortality. (v. 28)

CONSEQUENCES OF A WICKED MAN:

  1.  The Lord condemns his craftiness. (v. 2)
  2.  He cannot be established through wickedness. (v.3)
  3.  He will be overthrown. (v. 7)
  4.  He is despised of his warped mind. (v. 8)
  5.  He will be plundered by evil men. (v. 12)
  6.  He is trapped by his sinful talk. (v. 13)
  7.  He will be full of troubles. (v. 21)

CHARACTERISTICS OF A RIGHTEOUS MAN:

  1.  He loves discipline and knowledge. (v. 1)
  2.  He has just plans. (v. 5)
  3.  His speech has the power to rescue. (v. 6)
  4.  He cares for the needs of his animal. (v. 10)
  5.  He works his land. (v. 11)
  6.  He listens to advice. (v. 15)
  7.  He overlooks an insult. (v. 16)
  8.  He gives honest testimony. (v. 27)
  9.  His tongue brings healing. (v. 18)
  10.  His truthful lips endures forever. (v. 19)
  11.  He promotes peace (v. 20)
  12.  He keeps his knowledge to himself. (v. 22)
  13.  His hands are diligent. (v. 24)
  14.  He cheers up people with kind words. (v. 25)

CHARACTERISTICS OF A WICKED MAN:

  1.  He hates correction. (v. 1)
  2.  He has deceitful plans. (v. 54)
  3.  His words lie in wait for blood. (v. 6)
  4.  His kindest acts were cruel. (v. 10)
  5.  He lacks judgment and chooses fantasies. (v. 11)
  6.  He considers himself right. (v. 13)
  7.  He shows his arrogance at once. (v. 16)
  8.  He tell lies and give false witness. (v. 17)
  9.  His reckless words pierce like a sword. (v. 18)
  10.  His lying tongue last only a moment. (v. 19)
  11.  He plots evil. (v. 20)
  12.  He blurts out folly. (v. 23)
  13.  He is lazy. (v. 24)
  14.  He weights down a man’s heart. (v. 25)
  15.  He leads friendship astray. (v. 26)
  16.  He is uncertain of himself. (v. 27)
