SCRIPTURE: ECCLESIASTES 6
MEMORY VERSES:
“God gives a man wealth, possessions and honor, so that he lacks nothing his heart desires, but God does not enable him to enjoy them, and a stranger enjoys them instead. This meaningless, a grievous evil.” (Ecclesiastes 6:2)
“A man may have a hundred children and live many years; yet no matter how long, he lives, if he cannot enjoy his prosperity and does not receive proper burial, I say that a stillborn child is better off than he.” (Ecclesiastes 6+:3-4)
“For who knows what is good for a man in life, during the few and meaningless days he passes through like a shadow? Who can tell him what will happen under the sun after he is gone?” (Ecclesiastes 6:12)
Do not look around for something. Accept what you have now. The poor man wishes for more while the rich man wishes to enjoy what he labored. Therefore, enjoy your wealth while you are still living. For life passes like a shadow. We do not know the future, so make the most of today’s opportunities and blessings.
THOUGHTS:
A person may die without being able to enjoy his wealth and honor. And all he has accumulated has to be left behind a stranger to enjoy them. This is meaningless. A person who has many children but is unable to enjoy his prosperity and receive proper burial is also meaningless.
Solomon was saying that we cannot predict what the future holds. Only God knows our destiny. So, in all our plans, we should look to God and take the time to prepare for eternity.
