THOUGHTS:
The Israelites were enslaved by the Egyptians for about 400 years. They hated the Egyptians yet Judah was considering an alliance with Egypt against Assyria. But Israel warned against the alliance because God will destroy Assyria in due time.
Egypt was known for its wisdom but their counselors have been deceived. True wisdom comes from God. If you want wisdom, ask from God to give you guidance and good decision making.
After Egypt’s chastening, it would turn from idol worship to the one true God. A the end, the oppressor of Israel – Egypt and Assyria would unite in worship. This prophecy will come true in that day when Christ comes to reign.
