SCRIPTURE:  ISAIAH 30

MEMORY VERSE:

‘Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; he rises to show you compassion.  For the Lord is a God of justice.  Blessed are all who wait for him!”.  (Isaiah 30:18)

WOE TO THE OBSTINATE NATIONS (vs. 133)

When Assyria threatened Judah, the leaders did not turn to God for help.  Instead, they trusted diplomacy by sending ambassadors to Egypt.  But Egypt was like a broken clay with a wall about to fall down.  They could not give any help to Israel.

In the desire to find security, people in Judah sought refuge from Egypt.  They did not want to hear any bad news.  So, they did not welcome what Isaiah prophesized.

Despite of their disobedience, the Lord was gracious to them when they repented and cried for help.  He had shattered Assyria and struck them down.  The people rejoiced and sang praises to the Lord.

THOUGHTS:

When we are driven by fear, we tend to search everywhere for comfort, advice and relief hoping to find an easy way out of our troubles.  Instead, we should consult God.  By reading His Word and seeking to do His will, the Lord can guide us and provide us wisdom, protection and security.

When problems arrive, we must wait for the Lord in “quietness and confidence”.  Trust Him to give us the strength to face our difficulties.  Do not believe in false hope.  Lay aside our plans and allow God to act.  God will show his love by patiently walking with us through adversity.

In case we have left God’s path, we should be willing to repent and hear His voice of correction.
