SCRIPTURE: ISAIAH 34
JUDGMENT AGAINST THE NATIONS (vs. 1-17)
God warned all the nations that He will the whole world.
DESCRIPTION OF JUDGMENT’S SCENARIO:
- They will be slain, thrown out and the blood of their babies will be soaked by the mountain. (v. 3)
- All the stars of the heavens will be dissolved and the sky rolled up like a scroll; and all the starry host will fall. (v. 4)
- The sword of the Lord will descend in judgment on Edom. (v. 5)
- Their land will be drenched with blood and the dust will be soaked with fat. (v. 7)
- Edom’s streams will be turned into pitch, her dust into burning sulfur, her land will become blazing pitch. (v. 9)
- The desert owl, screech owl. great owl and raven will nest at Edom. (v. 11)
- The nobles and princes of Edom will vanish away. (v. 12)
- Edom will become a haunt for jackals, a home for owls. (v. 13)
- Desert creatures, wild goats and night creatures will rest there. (v. 14)
When God’s people disobeyed God, He chastened them. But God will fight for the cause of Zion. He will keep His covenant with Abraham and his descendants.
THOUGHTS:
The Edomites were descendants of Esau, the brother of Jacob. The Edomites and Israelites were always bitter enemies. God told Isaiah to write down Edom’s destruction so that those who live to see its destruction can affirm the fulfillment of prophesy being predicted.
