Our Daily Scripture – 7/27/24 (Saturday)

SCRIPTURE:  ISAIAH 38

MEMORY VERSE:

“The Lord will save me, and we will sing with stringed instruments all the days of our lives in the temple of the Lord.” (Isaiah 38:20)

HEZEKIAN’S ILLNESS (vs. 1-22)

Hezekiah, King of Judah, falls seriously ill with a boil, and the prophet Isaiah tells him to set his affairs in order because he will not recover. Hezekiah prayed earnestly to God, reminding Him of his faithfulness and pleading for mercy. In response, God heard his prayer, saw his tears, and promised to add fifteen more years to his life. As a sign, God caused the shadow on the sundial to move backward ten steps.

THOUGHTS:

Isaiah 38 teaches us about the power of prayer and the importance of faithfulness in our daily lives. Just as Hezekiah earnestly prayed and God responded with mercy and healing, we are reminded that our prayers matter and can bring about change. When faced with life’s challenges, uncertainties, or even dire situations, we can turn to God with a sincere heart, trusting that He hears us. This chapter also highlights that God’s timing and plans are beyond our understanding, encouraging us to remain hopeful and steadfast in our faith. By living faithfully and seeking God’s guidance in all circumstances, we can experience His grace and intervention in our lives, just as Hezekiah did.
