SCRIPTURE:  ISAIAH 50

ISRAEL’S SIN AND THE SERVANT’S OBEDIENCE (vs. 1-11)

Israel was unfaithful when they turned to idols and committed spiritual adultery.  So God chastened them by making them captives of the pagan nation.  However, one day, God will restore His people when they repented and turn to Him.  Today, God also restores believers who turn from sin and obey Him.

Jesus is a faithful servant with an instructed tongue, listening ear, set face and ready body surrendered to God’s will.  Are you willing to be faithful to God?

Believers who fear God can also experience darkness of perplexity.  Instead of trying to find a way out by ourselves, we should trust the Lord, wait on his light to show us the way.

THOUGHTS:

The people of Israel forgot God and trusted in other countries to help them.  They rejected God by walking by their own way, thinking that they are self-sufficient enough.  When we place confidence in our own intelligence and accomplishments instead of God, we risk facing torment later.
