Our Daily Scripture – 8/15/24 (Thursday)

SCRIPTURE:  ISAIAH 57

Sometimes, God took away the righteous and those who walk uprightly to spare them from evil and let them find rest as they lie in death and enter into peace.

God denounced the godless society in Judah.  Among the sins they committed were:  lying, worshiping and offering grain and drink offerings to idols, indulging in sexual sins, sacrificing their children and mocking the godly.  They had totally abandon God and have no fear of Him.

COMFORT FOR THE CONTRITE (vs. 14-21)

Among the ungodly, there were still dedicated people who had fellowship with God.  God gave them comfort and promised them healing and peace.

THOUGHTS:

The people broke their commitment to God and gave themselves to worthless idols made of wood and stone.  They worship Molech, an Ammonite god whose worship include child sacrifice.  Isaiah warned these people that good works and idols could not save them. Salvation is a gift from God received through faith in Christ.  How about you?  Whom do you believe – God or idols?

The high and holy God is going to save those humble people with contrite hearts.  But for the wicked, there will be no peace.
