Our Daily Scripture – 8/18/24 (Sunday)

SCRIPTURE:  ISAIAH 60

MEMORY VERSE:

“The sun will no more be your light by day, nor will the brightness of the moon shine on you, for the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory.” (Isaiah 60:19)

THE GLORY OF ZION (vs, 1-22)

As the people were redeemed and the city of Zion restored, the glory of God will shine among nations.  The Jews and the Gentiles will unite in worshiping and serving God.  The world will be united and there is no more division nor conflict but peace.  God’s favor and mercy will enrich His people with beauty and joy.  Zion’s citizens will sing praises to the Lord.

MANIFESTATION OF GOD’S GLORY IN ZION:

  1.  The wealth of the seas and the riches of the nations will come. (v. 5)
  2.  Herds and camels will cover your land. (v. 6a)
  3.  People from Sheba will come bearing gold and incense and proclaiming the praise of the Lord. (v. 6b)
  4.  Kedar’s flocks and Nebaioth rams will serve as offering in the altar of God’s glorious temple. (v. 7)
  5.  The ship of Tarshish will bring your sons with their silver and gold to honor God. (v. 9)
  6.  Foreigners will rebuild your walls and their kings will serve you. (v. 10))
  7.  Your gates will always stands open, they will never be shut, day or night to receive the wealth of the nations. (v. 11)
  8.  All nations or kingdom that will not serve your will perish and utterly ruined. (v. 12)
  9.  My sanctuary will be adorned with Lebanon’s pine, fir and cypress. (v. 13)
  10.  The sons of your oppressors and all who despise you will bow down at your feet. (v. 14)
  11.  You will be the everlasting pride and the joy of all generations (v. 15)
  12.  You will drink the milk of nations and be nursed at royal breasts. (v. 16)
  13.  You will have gold instead of bronze and silver in place of iron, bronze instead of wood and iron in place of stones. (v. 17a)
  14.  Peace will be your governor and righteousness your ruler. (v. 17b)
  15.  There will be no violence in your land nor ruin or destruction within your borders and you will call your walls Salvation and your gates Praise. (v. 18)
  16.  The Lord will be your everlasting light and your days of sorrow will end. (v. 20)
  17.  All your people will be righteous and they will possess the lands forever. (v. 21)
  18.  The least of you will become a thousand, the smallest a mighty nation. (v. 22)

THOUGHTS:

We are longing for the fulfillment of the above prophecies.  But we must patiently wait for God’s timing.  God is in control of history.  All our lives are under his plan.
