SCRIPTURE:  EZEKIEL 13

FALSE PROPHETS CONDEMNED (vs. 1-23)

  1.  They will not belong to the council of my people or be listed in the records of the house of Israel, nor will they enter the land of Israel. (v. 9)
  2.  There will be no peace. (v. 10)
  3.  A violent wind with hailstones and torrents of rain will tear down the wall covered with whitewash.  It will be leveled to the ground with its foundation laid bare.(v. 11-14)
  4.  Those with magic chains will be teared down. (v. 20)
  5.  Those with veils will be teared off so that people will no longer fall prey to their power. (21)
  6.  They will no longer see false visions or practice divination. (v. 23)

THOUGHTS:

Every time God made his condemnation, he ended with this phrase “Then you will know that I am the Lord”.  This shows that God is asserting that He is the Lord, the true Almighty and Sovereign God.

False prophets are dangerous because they send message from their own mouth to whitewash things.  They give comforting words to appease people.  Beware of them because they are religious scavengers.  They bend the truth in their quest for popularity and power.

The magic chains and veils were used in witchcraft practices as good luck chains by the women false prophets.  They ensnared the people in idolatry.  Be sure to avoid being victimized.
