[:en]Thoughts from “Light to My Path” (7/10/17)[:]

[:en]Scripture Reading:  Matthew 6:16-23

Biblical Truth:  “When you fast, do not look sober as the hypocrites do” (Mat. 6:65).    Jesus fasted for 40 days to prepare for His mission.  So fasting is not only foregoing a meal, but to prepare ourselves spiritually for God’s use.  When we fast physically, we must feast ourselves with the Bread of Eternal Life for spiritual nourishment.

Personal Application:   With the popular advertisement of ‘EAT ALL YOU CAN”, we need the discipline of fasting to avoid gluttony.   We need to correct our spiritual imbalance and malnutrition by focusing on our spiritual growth.

Prayer:  Dear Lord, help us to overcome the temptation of overeating.  Instead, we have to hunger for your words.[:]
