INTRODUCTION:
“Amos” means “burden” and he was burdened because of the sins of Judah and Israel. He announced God’s judgment on the people because they had turned away from God. They lived selfishly and were cruel to the poor. Amos saw five visions from God with the doomsday closing by. He warned the people about the judgment of God. He concluded with hope to the people who loved God reassuring of their safe dwelling.

THOUGHTS:
Amos was a shepherd but he became a channel of God’s message to others. God can also work through you to do extraordinary things no matter how ordinary your occupation is.
Amos denounced the sins of 6 gentile nations. He condemned their brutality, slavery, revenge, murder and thievery. But he also proclaimed God’s judgment on the people of Israel. We cannot excuse our own sins just because the sins of others seem worst than ours. God judges all people fairly and impartially.
