Our Daily Scripture – 1/27/25 (Monday)

SCRIPTURE:  MICAH 6

MEMORY VERSE:

“He has showed you, O man, what is good.  And what does the Lord require of you?  To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

THE LORD’S CASE AGAINST ISRAEL (VS. 1-8)

God was reminding the people how he had brought them out of Egypt and redeemed them from the land of slavery.  He mentioned about Balak, king of Moab counseled and what Balaam answered.  He told to remember their journey from Shittim to Gilgal so that they will know the righteous acts of the Lord.

What is pleasing to the Lord is not burnt offering.  He requires us to act justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with Him.

ISRAEL’S GUILT AND PUNISHMENT (vs. 8-16)

The sins of Israel are: (1)- ill gotten wealth (v. 10); (2)-dishonest scales (v. 11); (3)-deceitful speech (v. 12).

PUNISHMENT OF GOD:

  1.  You will eat but not be satisfied; your stomach will still be empty. (v. 14a)
  2.  You will store up but save nothing, because what you save I will give to the sword. (v. 14b)
  3.  You will plant but not harvest. (v. 15a)
  4.  You will press olives but not use the oil on yourselves. (v. 15b)
  5.  You will crush grapes but not drink the wine. (v. 15c)
  6.  You will be ruined and bear the scorn of the nations. (v. 16)

THOUGHTS:

God was kind to his forgetful people.  But their short memory and lack of thankfulness condemned them.  This is a reminder for us to give thanks to God for His goodness.  Remember God’s past protection and blessings so that you will realize your present provision.  The only way to please God is to do what is right, to love mercy and to walk humbly with Him.
