SCRIPTURE: ZECHARIAH 13
CLEANSING FROM SIN (vs. 1-6)
- God will banish the names of the idols from the land. (v. 2a)
- God will remove both the prophets and the spirit of impurity from the land. (v. 2b)
- Anyone who prophecies lies in the Lord’s name will be stabbed by his own parents. (v. 3)
- Every prophet will be ashamed of his prophetic vision. (v. 4)
THE SHEPHERD STRUCK, THE SHEEP SCATTERED (vs. 7-9)
2/3 of the sheep will be struck down and only 1/3 will be left. This third will be refined like silver and tested like gold by the Lord. They will call on God and God will answer them. They are His people and the Lord is their God.
THOUGHTS:
Before the beginning of new era, there was a cleansing of all evils. Idols will be banished and false prophets will be ashamed of themselves and they will stop to deceive God’s people. Then 1/3 will become remnant of God , who trusted and followed Jesus. They were refined like silver and gold through the fire under difficult circumstances. They were obedient to God despite of trials and tribulations. How about you? Can you be like them ?
