[:en]Thoughts from Psalm 26[:]

[:en]David had led a blameless life with the following proofs:

  • I have trusted in the Lord without wavering (v. 1)
  • I walk continually in truth (v. 3)
  • I did not sit with deceitful men nor consort with the hypocrites (v. 4)
  • I abhor the assembly of evil doers and refuse to sit with the wicked (v. 5)
  • My hands are innocent (v. 6)
  • I praise God for His wonderful deeds (v. 7)
  • I love the Lord’s dwelling place (v. 8)

But he was treated with jealousy and unjust treatment at Saul’s hand.  This Psalm offer us how to face injustice.

  1.  Let God examine you to a complete scrutiny of your inner motivation.  Allow him to refine you for your spiritual development
  2. Avoid negative influences.  Wrong influences would suggest that revenge is the only way to right the wrong.  But God says:  It is mine to avenge.  I will repay” .  “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good” (Rom 12:-19, 21)
  3. Trust in God.  Find strength in Him.  Let God handle your situation knowing that with God’s sense of justice, right will eventually prevail.
  4. Take a long view of life.  Travel the high road of personal integrity.  Do not sink to the unethical behavior of getting even.  God blesses those who follow his command. (Mat. 5:39)

Let us pray to God:  “Test me, O Lord, and try me.  Examine my heart and my mind” (v. 2)  Let us  focus on the Lord by going to the altar, proclaiming praise, telling his wonderful deeds and love the house of the Lord.  (vs. 6-10)[:]
