[:en]Thoughts from Psalm 31[:]

[:en]Difficulties that the Psalmist faced and how he responded:

  1.  Opposition from those who cling to worthless idols (v. 6) – He sought refuge in God (v. 1a)
  2. He was ridiculed, slandered and lied by his enemies (vs. 11,13,18) – He asked God not to allow him to be put in shame (v. 1)
  3. He was deserted by friends and neighbors (v. 11-12) – He trusted God and said:  “You are my God.  My times are  in your hands” (vs. 14-15)
  4. He suffered distress caused by his opponents (vs. 9-10) – He could still rejoice in God’s steadfast love. (vs. 7)
  5. Threats of his enemies and persecutors (v. 15) – He trusted his life in the hand of God to dwell in the shelter of God’s premise.  God hid him and kept him safe from intrigues and arguing tongues of men (v. 20

When David became alarm and said:  “I am out off from your sight” (v. 22), he remembered that God had heard his cry for help and mercy before.

There are times when God seemed so far away,  when our faith starts to fade and our trust faints, recall what God has done for you in the past.  Such remembrance can strengthen our faith and erase our fears and anxieties.”Be strong and take heart. and you who hope in the Lord” ” (v.24)
