[:en]This Psalm emphasized the shortness of life. We are strangers and sojourners traveling in this world as a passing guest. Our life is like a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes (James 4:14) Our hope is in God, the only one which is eternal and trustworthy. People try to get wealth and possessions but the Psalmist said: “Man is a mere phantom as he goes to and fro: He bustles about, but only in vain; he heaps up wealth, not knowing who will get it” (v. 6).
The Psalmist made 3 requests in his prayer:
First – He asked for forgiveness of all his transgressions (v. 8), Second, he prayed that God in his mercy will remove him from the suffering he deserved (v. 10). Finally, he prayed that God would hear his prayers, listen to his cry and wipe out his tears (v. 12).[:]
