[:en]David wrote this Psalm during the early stages of Absalom’s conspiracy. His thoughts were troubled (v. 2), his heart was in anguish (v. 4), his whole body was with fear and trembling (v. 5). He wished he could have the wings like a dove to fly far way and stay in the desert to rest (vs. 6-7). But the most painful of all is the betrayal of his friend. “The words of his mouth were smooth than butter, but war was in his heart, his words were softer than oil, yet they were draw swords” (v. 21). But he called to God and the Lord saved him. He cried out in distress and God heard his voice (vs. 16-17). At the end, he affirmed God’s everlasting faithfulness with these following verses: “Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall”(vs. 22). “But as for me, I trust in you” (vs. 23).
How will you respond to trials? Instead of running away or flying away like a dove, we need the wings of an eagle to lift us up and fly high above the storm. Trials can make us grow and mature. God has a purpose for allowing problems to teach us new truths in our lives.
How will you respond to betrayals? Instead of taking revenge or returning evil for evil, leave your hurt with the Lord.
How can you tackle your burdens? Give yourself up to him and let him carry the burden for you. Cast your burdens on the Lord , for He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7)[:]
