[:en]Thoughts from “Our Daily Bread” (8/17/17)[:]

[:en]When the people saw Jesus fed the 500 with 5 barley loaves and 2 small fish, they wanted to make him king by force.  So Jesus withdrew himself to a mountain by himself (John 6:1-15)  The next day, the crowd saw him and Jesus said:  “You are looking for me not because you saw miraculous signs but because you ate the loaves and had your fill” ” (John 6:26)  They mistakenly thought the King Jesus would fill their stomach and give them freedom.  But Jesus counseled them:  “Do not work for food that spoils but for food that endures to eternal life, which I will give you” (John 6:27).

Jesus said:  “I am the bread of life.  He who comes to me will never go hungry and he who believes in me will never be thirsty (John 6:35).  “I am the living bread that came down from heaven.  If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever (John 6:51)

Let us not only see Jesus as our divine problem solver.  He is is the one who give us eternal life.
