[:en]Thoughts from Psalm 79[:]

[:en]Asaph wrote this Psalm with the feeling that the enemy has won.  He saw His holy temple defied and reduced to rubble (v. 1).  He saw bodies of His servants being eaten by the birds and the flesh of His saints consumed by the beasts of the earth (v. 2).  They have become objects of reproach to their neighbors, scorn and derision to those around them (v. 4).  They have been devoured and destroyed and in desperate need for God’s mercy (vs. 7-8).  He asked God to restore and save them. (vs. 11-12).

We see death and destruction everywhere in this world.  But God promises to deliver His people from the world.  Let us rest in His promise.[:]
