[:en]Thoughts from “Light to My Path” (8/21/17)[:]

[:en]Scripture Reading:  Matthew 14:13-21

Biblical Truth:  After learning that his cousin John the Baptist was beheaded, Jesus withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place.  But the crowd followed him.  When He saw the crowd, He had compassion on them and healed their sick.  (Mat. 14:13-14)  When evening came, he multiplied the loaves and fed the 5000.  The desert setting recalled the time when God had provided manna for the Israelites. (Exo. 16:1-18)  Jesus re-enacted this divine provision to show them that He was the Messiah who can provide for their needs.

Personal Application:  Jesus loves us and gives us our daily bread.  But first, we need to follow Him and experience his healing love.

Prayer:  Lord, thank you for being compassionate to us.  Thank you for providing our daily needs.  Help us to follow you wholeheartedly.[:]
