Matthew 14:22-36
Biblical Truth: After feeding the 5000, Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go ahead to the other side while he remained in the mountainside alone to pray. The boat had sailed for a considerable distance from land when it was buffeted by strong winds and waves. Jesus went out and walked on the lake. when the disciples saw him, they thought it was a ghost. But Jesus said: “Take courage, it is I. Don’t be afraid” (v. 27). Peter got down to the water and walked toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and began to sink. He cried out: “Lord, save me” (v. 31) The Lord immediately reached out his hand and caught him. When they climbed into the boat, the wind subsided. Those who were in the boat worship him and recognized him as the true Son of God.
Personal Application: Sometimes in our life’s struggle, we have hard questions about God’s leading. Let us learn from Peter’s readiness to trust in God.
Prayer: Lord, when we got into difficult situations and doubt comes into our minds, help us to look upon you knowing that nothing is impossible for you.[:]
