[:en]Thoughts from “Our Daily Bread” (9/16/17)[:]

[:en]The Bible gives us many examples of people who acted with faith despite their feelings of abandonment.  Abram felt that God’s promise of an heir has been forgotten (Gen. 15:2-3).  David felt being forsaken in times of trouble. (Ps. 10:1)  Job suffered so much in his trials and thought that God might kill him (Job 13:15).  And Jesus cried out on the cross” My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” (Ma.t 27:46).  Yet in each instance, God remained faithful to them.  God gave Abram a son – Isaac (Gen. 21:1-7).  God had listened to David’s cry (Ps. 10:16-18).  The Lord made Job prosperous again and gave him twice as much as he had before.  He blessed Job’s life more than the first. (Job 42:10, 12)  Jesus was resurrected and taken to be with the Father. (Mat. 28:9-10)

When clouds and darkness overshadow you, remember that God is always with you.  He promises never to leave you nor forsake you. (Heb. 13:5).  You can say with confidence: “The Lord is my helper.  I will not be afraid.  What can man do to me?” (Heb. 13:6)[:]
