[:en]Paul warned about the false teachers who were trying to seduce the church from devotion to Christ. He refused to receive support from them in preaching the gospel so as not to burden the church (vs. 7-9) And he encountered sufferings to defend the gospel (vs/ 23-33).
He boasted about his trials and sufferings as follows:
- Been in prison
- Been flogged more severely
- Been exposed to death
- Received 39 lashes from the Jews
- Beaten with rods 3 times
- Stoned once
- Shipwrecked 3 times
- Spend a night and a day in the open sea
- Danger from rivers
- Danger from bandits
- Danger from own countrymen
- Danger from Gentiles
- Danger in the city
- Danger in the country
- Danger at sea
- Danger from false brothers
- Labored and toiled and often gone without sleep
- Known hunger and thirst and have gone without food
- Been cold and naked
- Pressure of concern for all the churches
