[:en]Thoughts from Isaiah 13[:]

[:en]A prophesy against Babylon on its downfall:

Babylon will defeat Assyria and take Judah captive.  Then it will fall into the hands of Medes and Persians (vs. 17-22).

Isaiah described the final day of the Lord as follows:

  1. All hands will go limp, every men’s heart will melt (v. 7)
  2. Terror will seize them, pain and anguish will grip them; they will writhe like a woman in labor.  They will look aghast at each other, their faces aflame (v. 8)
  3. The stars of heaven and their constellations will not show their light.  The rising sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light (v. 10)
  4. The heavens will tremble and the earth will shake from its place (v./ 13)
  5. Their infants will be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses will be looted and their wives ravished (v. 16)
  6. Their bows will strike down the young men’ they will have no mercy on infants nor will they look with compassion on children (v. 18)

Isaiah’s prophesy against Babylon was finally fulfilled. (vs. 19-20)[:]
