[:en]Paul told the believers in Colosse that when they received Christ Jesus as Lord, they should continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthen the faith with overflowing thankfulness (v. 6)
He warned them of these things:
- Let no one deceive you by fine-sounding arguments who substituted man’s ideas from God’s truth. (v. 4)
- See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy which depend on human traditions and basic principles of the world rather those in Christ. (v. 8)
- Do not follow any religious regulations that deprives you the liberty in Christ (v. 16)
- Do not let anyone who delights in false humility, who experiences religious mysticism and whose mind was unspiritual disturb your faith in God (v. 18)
We are made alive with Christ (v. 13). Our sins are forgiven, so all the regulations in the written code are cancelled because Christ took it away, nailing it to the cross (v. 14). Therefore, do not be subjected to rules based on human commands and teachings. “Such regulations have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humility and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence” (vs. 20-23)[:]
