[:en]The prophet warned the people about the coming desolation and terrible destruction but they would not listen (vs. 1-10) The prophets and priests practise deceit (v. 13). They gave wrong diagnosis and false remedy (v. 14). The Lord says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths; ask where the good way is and walk in it and you will find rest for your souls” (v. 16) but they would not walk in it. He appointed watchmen and told them to listen to the sound of the trumpet but they would not listen (v. 17). Because they would not listen to His words and rejected His law, their burnt offering and sacrifices were unacceptable to Him (v. 20). Therefore God was sending a great nation to attack them (v. 23). They will experience anguish and pain like that of a woman in labor (v. 24) because the Lord had rejected them.[:]
