[:en]Thoughts from Jeremiah 22[:]

[:en]There were four evil kings mentioned in this chapter:

1.  Zedekiah (vs. 1-9) – He did not do what was just and right as what David ruled.  God will make him like a desert with town destroyed and inhabited.

2.  Shallum –  (vs. 10-17) – He was unrighteous and unjust making his countrymen work for nothing and not paying them for their labor.

3.  Jehoiakim (vs. 18-23) – His eyes were set on dishonest gain, shedding innocent blood, oppressing and exhorting people.  He will have the burial of a donkey dragging away and thrown outside the gate of Jerusalem.

4.  Jehoiachin (vs. 24-31) – He did evil in the eyes of the Lord. (2 Kings 24:9)  He surrendered to King Nebuchadnezzar and was taken as prisoner to Babylon.  None of his inherited the throne of David (v. 30)

May the lives of the past kings teach us to listen to His Word and obey Him.
