Biblical Truth: As we read all the names in the Bible, it may sound boring and insignificant. But there are hidden meanings from the beginning of mankind to the salvation of Jesus. These are the meanings of the names mentioned in the Bible: Adam – Man; Seth – Appointed; Enosh – Mortal; Kenan – Sorrow; Nahalalel – The blessed God; Jared – Shall come down; Enoch – Teaching; Methuselah – His death shall bring; Lamech – The despairing; Noah – Rest/Comfort/Missler.. God’s word is more precious than gold (needs digging) and sweeter than honey (needs hunting).
Personal Application: We should not ignore or get bored reading the monotonous enumeration of names and details in the Bible. Stringing together the meanings of the names in the line give us a beautiful amazing message of His salvation through Christ’s death.
