[:en]Thoughts from “Our Daily Bread” (11/21/17)[:]

[:en]All of us like to be successful in life.  We want to be recognized by striving to win a medal, obtain an award, or get a  prize.  The competition of the first century athletic games gave their full effort to win the prize.

Paul had embraced a new goal to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and participate in his sufferings (Phil. 3:10)  So he said:  “I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me> (Phil. 3-12)  He wanted to win the race to obtain the “crown of righteousness.  (2 Tim. 4:8)

May we also aim to win the heavenly prize for which God, the Christ Jesus is calling us. (Phil. 3:14)  May we keep pressing on in our everyday duties knowing that what is done for Christ will last forever.[:]
