[:en]God used allegory to give message to the house of Israel. A great eagle (Nebuchadnezzar) came to Jerusalem and carried off her king and her nobles, bringing them back to Babylon. Then he took a member of the royal family (King Zedekiah) and made a treaty with him to remain loyal to him. But king Zedekiah broke it and turned to Egypt for help. So the king of Babylon came back and destroyed him because of his unfaithfulness.
But one day God will take a shoot from the very top of a cedar and plant it. He will break off a tender sprig from its topmost shoots and plant it on a high and lofty mountain. It will produce branches and bear fruit. The young twig from David’s line, Jesus Christ will come to suffer for the sins of the world. He will establish his glorious kingdom in the future.[:]
