[:en]Thoughts from “Our Daily Bread” (2/5/18)[:]

[:en]King Solomon worried over his successor when he said:  “Who knows whether that person will be wise or foolish yet they will have control over the fruit of my toil into which I have poured my effort and skill” (Ecc. 2:19).

When Rehoboam succeeded Solomon as king of Israel, the people requested him to lighten the harsh labor and the heavy yoke that his father had put on them.  He rejected the advice of the elders to give them a favorable answer.  Instead, he followed the advice of the young men to put heavier yoke upon them.  As a result, Israel rebelled against him and the kingdom was divided. (1 Kings 12:1-20)  His lack of judgment ended up fulfilling his father’s worst fear.

Are you a leader?  Do you listen to good advices?  Ask the Lord to give you wisdom to make wise decisions.  Be a leader with a humble servant’s heart  and compassion.
