[:en]The Lord’s Supper (vs. 26-29)

Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body:.  Then he tooke the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you.  This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.  I tell you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it anew with you in my Father’s kingdom”

Jesus Predicts Peter’s Denial:  (vs. 31-34)

Jesus said to the disciples:  “This very night, you will all far away on account of me, for it is written: “I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered”.  But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee”.  Peter replied, “Even if all fall away on account of you, I never will”  Jesus answered:  “This very night, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times”

In Gethsemane, Jesus prayed to the Father 3 times:

  1.  “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me.  Yet not as I will, but as you will” (v. 39)
  2. “My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done” (v. 42)
  3. Same as #2  (v. 44)

When he came back, the disciples were sleeping and he said to them:  “Are you still sleeping and resting?  Look, the hour is near, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners (vs. 43-45)

Jesus Arrested:

When Jesus was arrested, Peter reached for his sword, drew it out and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.  But Jesus told him to put his sword back because he wanted that what the Scripture say that it must happen will be fulfilled.  (vs. 50-56)

Peter Disowns Jesus 3 times:

  1. “I don’t know what you’re talking about” (v. 70)
  2. “I don’t know the man!” (v. 72)
  3. “I don;t know the man!” (v. 74)

Immediately, a rooster crowed.  Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken”  “Before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times’  And he went outside and wept bitterly.  (vs. 75)
