[:en]Thoughts from Luke 2[:]

[:en]Characters behind the birth of Jesus:

  1. Angels – appeared to the shepherds bringing good news of great joy (v. 10)
  2. Shepherds – they went to find Jesus and spread the word, glorifying and praising God (vs. 17, 20)
  3. Simon – a righteous and devout man in Jerusalem whom the Holy Spirit revealed that he would not die before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. (v. 26)  When he saw Jesus, he said:  “Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you now dismiss your servant in peace.  For my eyes have seen your salvation which you have prepared in the sight of all people, a light for revelation to the Gentiles and for glory to your people Israel” (v. 29-32)
  4. Anna – a prophetess who had lived with her husband 7 years after her marriage and was a widow until she was 84.  She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying.  She gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem (vs. 36-38)

Application:

  1. Will you bring the good news to all mankind?
  2. Will you seek the Lord , praise and worship Him?
  3. Will you remain righteous looking forward to His second coming?
  4. Will you be worshiping, praying, fasting and giving thanks to the Lord?
