[:en]A man was blind from birth. The cause of his blindness was not because of sin but to display God’s work in His life. Jesus had compassion on him and healed him by mixing saliva to the mud and put on the man’s eyes. Jesus then told him to go and wash at the Pool of Siloam. After washing, the man came home seeing.
Because Jesus healed the man on the Sabbath day, the Pharisees condemned Him for breaking the Sabbath law. But Jesus purposely performed His miracle on the Sabbath day in order to emphasize his teaching about the Sabbath – that it is right to care for other’s needs even if it involves working on a day of rest.
The Pharisees questioned the blind man about Jesus. They tried to discredit Jesus and said that He was a sinner. But the man was firm in his faith. He recognized Jesus as a prophet (v. 17). Because of His faith in Christ, he was evicted from the synagogue. When Jesus met him again later, he believed that Jesus is the Lord and worshiped Him. (v. 38)
People who are spiritually blinded refuse to accept the truth. They are complacent and self-satisfied. They are guilty of sin but refuse to acknowledge their guilt.
Be courageous to stand firm to your faith. Share Christ to others to help people believe in Him. Ask God to give you spiritual understanding and insight.[:]
