[:en]Thoughts from “Our Daily Bread” (7/24/18)[:]

[:en]The harsh Russian winter was the cause of Napoleon’s defeat in Russia 200 years ago.  One specific problem was that of the “HORSESHOE”.  The horses that carried the supplies slipped on icy roads because they were wearing summer horseshoes.  The failure of supplies reduced his 400,000 strong army to 10,000.  The slip and unawareness of proper “HORSESHOE”  caused the disastrous result.

James described how a slip of the tongue can do great damage.  “No human being can tame the tongue.  It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison” (James 3:8)  King David wrote:  “I will watch my ways and keep my tongue from sin; I will put a muzzle on my mouth” (Ps. 39:1)
