[:en]A test match in the game of cricket can be grueling. Competitors play from 11 A.M.to 6 P.M. with lunch and tea breaks, but the games can last up to five days. It is a test of endurance as well as skill.
The test we face in life is challenging. The long search for a job, an unbroken season of loneliness, or a lengthy battle with cancer seem to be unending.
King David also suffered long period of trials. When he was pursued by Saul, he cried out: “How long, Lord, will you look on? Rescue me from their ravages, my precious life from these lions”. Yet, in the end, he sang: “The Lord be exalted, who delights in the well-being of his servant” (Ps. 35:27) His testing drove him to deeper trust in God.
Let us ask God to enable us to endure, and empower us to trust in Him. In our long seasons of testing, hardship, or loss, remember that God’s arms are underneath us.
