[:en]Thoughts from “Our Daily Bread” (8/2/18)[:]

[:en]Joop Zoetemelk is known as the Netherlands’ most successful cyclist.  He started and finished the Tour de France 16 times – placing second five times.  and he won in 1980 because of his perseverance.  Perseverance is the key to victory.

Apostle Paul knew that as followers of Christ, he will suffer persecution.  But he persevered and was able to endure with hope.  At the end of his life, Paul was able to say:  “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” (2 Tim. 4:7)

To obtain success, we must climb a special ladder called “never give up”.  In every area of our lives:  family, education, friends, work, service, we need to press on, knowing that our God is both a promise-making and promise-keeping God.  He will reward those who faithfully finish the race.[:]
