[:en]Since the Jews only believe in God but not in Christ, they won’t be saved because Jesus is the most complete revelation of God. We cannot fully know God apart from Christ. God has appointed Jesus to bring God to people together so we can only come to God through Him. That is why Paul worked so hard and sacrificed so much to teach the Jews about Christ.
The Jews try to make themselves acceptable to God by establishing customs and traditions in addition to God’s laws. But human are not perfect. We cannot earn salvation by our own. We need the righteousness of Christ offered by God through faith.
Law was given to show people how guilty they are (Gal. 3:19) That is why in time times of the Old Testament, people made animal sacrifice to cover their sins. The law points to Christ because Christ came to offer true sacrifice once and for all. “Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes” (v. 4)
“If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (v. 9). “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (v. 13)
Believing needs hearing. Hearing needs preaching. Preaching needs sending. “How beautiful were the feet of those who bring good news” (v. 16)
Many Jews refused to believe Christ as their Messiah when he came. But the Gentiles who did not know about a Messiah found and believed in Him. We can never judge who will respond to the Good News and who will not.
Memory Verse:
“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (v. 13)
“Faith comes from hearing the message and the message is heard through the word of Christ” (v. 17)[:]
