[:en]THROWING STONES

The Pharisees and teachers of the law brought in a woman caught in adultery to Jesus saying:  “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. In the Law, Moses commanded us to stone such woman.  Now what do you say?” (John 8:4-5).  They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis to accuse Jesus.    If He told them to let the woman go, they could claim He was breaking Mosaic law.  But if He condemned her to death, his words of mercy and grace would be futile.

Instead of answering them directly, He wrote on the ground “If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her” (John 8:7)  When he looked up, all the accusers were gone.  Then he said to the woman:  “Neither do I condemn you.  Go now and leave your life of sin” (John 8:11)

Are you the one who is judging others or the one who needs forgiveness?  Let us not throw stones to others because no one is without sin.  Let us ask forgiveness from the Lord because no sin is beyond His grace.  Let us have a changed life that gives glory to God.[:]
