[:en]Paul was a brilliant scholar, but he shared the message of Jesus Christ not by his keen intellect or speaking ability but by allowing the Holy Spirit to guide His words.
Wisdom from the Spirit (vs. 6-16)
God’s secret wisdom which was hidden, was his offer of salvation to all people. This was originally unknown to humanity but was revealed when the Lord was crucified. He conquered sin and death and His glory was manifested by His resurection. God’s plan is hidden to unbelievers because either they refuse to accept it, choose to ignore it or haven’t heard of it.
Those who are considered wise and great by the world reject Jesus. The rulers, high priest, King Herod, Pilate, Pharisees and Sadducees were the ones who put Jesus to death. God has prepared us a place – a new heaven and a new earth. Those who love him will live with Him eternally. In the meantime, He has given us the Holy Spirit to comfort and guide us.
“The deep things of God” refers to God’s unmfathomable nature and His wonderful plan of salvation. It was revealed to those who believe and put their trust on what God said. This knowledge cannot be grasped by even the wisiest people unless by God’s message. Those who reject God’s message are foolish even how wise the world thinks they are.
Paul spoke not in words taught by human wisdom but on words taught by the Spirit. He wrote the very thoughts and words of God under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Non beleivers cannot understand spiritual truth because they consider it as follishness. Only believers can grasp the concept that God’s Spirit lives in them. No one has known the mind of the Lord. But through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the believers have the mind of Christ and know His thoughts. We can communicate with Him through prayer and reading His Word.
Thoughts to Ponder:
- Follow Paul’s example in preaching God’s message. Keep it simple and basic. Let the power of the Holy Spirit guide you so that your words may bring glory to God.
- We will encounter problems, hardships, grief, and loneliness in this world. Do not be discouraged. Be courageous to press on. Let the Holy Spirit guide and comfort you. For our hope is not in the present but in the future with a new heaven and new earth that God has provided us.
- Those who believe in Christ’s death and resurrection and put their faith in HIm are the wisiest people.
- Just as a tone-deaf person cannot appreciate fine music, people who reject Christ cannot understand truths from God’s Spirit. They cannot understand why you decide to follow Christ.
- Have an intimate relationship with Christ by spending time with the Lord daily so that you will have the “mind of Christ”.
