[:en]DOING THE OPPOSITE

Here are some counterintuitive principles from the Bible which seem to be contrary to what is considered as natural:

  1.  Keeping rules of human commands and teachings can not draw us closer to God. (Col. 2:20-22)
  2. “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things”  (Col. 3:2)
  3. “Whoever loses their life for me will find it” (Mat. 16:25)
  4. “The last will be first, and the first will be last” (Mat. 20:16)
  5. “When I am weak, then I am strong” (2 Cor. 12:10)
  6. “Deny yourself, take up your cross and follow me” (Mat. 16:24)
  7. “Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant and whoever wants to be first must be your slave” (Mat. 20:26-27)_
  8. “God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong” (1 Cor. 1:27-28)
  9. “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you” (Mat. 5:44)
  10. “If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also” (Mat. 5:39)
  11. “Do not repary anyone evil for evil.  Do not take revenge, but leave room for God’s wrath” (Rom. 12:18-19)
  12. “Bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you” (Luke 6:28)

However, we are to obey what the scripture says.  We are to consider ourselves “dead” to the values of this world and alive to Christ.  Our life is now hidden with Christ in God.  That is why Christians should do the oppositeof what the world is doing.
