[:en]Parable of the Sower: (vs. 5-15) Seeds were scattered
- Along the path – birds ate it up
- On the rock – plants withered because there were no roots
- Among thorns -grew up but was choked
- Good soil – yielded crop a hundred times
Meaning of the Parable:
- Those who heard and devil took way the words from their hearts
- Received the word with joy and believed for a while but in times of testing, they fell away.
- Those who heard the words but choked by life’s worries, riches and pleasure and did not mature
- Those with a noble and good heart, heard the word, retained it and produced crops.
A Lamp on a Stand
“No one lights a lamp and hides it in a jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, he puts it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open” (vs. 16-17)
Jesus’ Mother and Brothers
“My mother and brothers are those who hear God’s word and put it into practice” (v. 21)
Jesus Calms the Storm
Jesus fell asleep on a boat but the disciples woke him up because the boat was being swamped by a squail and they were in great danger. Jesus got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters and the storm subsided. Hen he asked his disciples: “Where is your faith?” (vs. 23-25)
The Healing of a Demon-possessed Man
When Jesus went to the region of the Gerasenes, he was met by a demon-possessed man with many demons called Legion. The demons begged Jesus to let them go into the pigs and the herd rushed down into the lake and drowned. The demon-possessed man was cured and told how much Jesus had done for him.
A Dead Girl and a Sick Woman
Jairus, a ruler of the synagogue came to Jesus, pleading him to come to his house because his only daughter about 12 of age was dying. While on his way, a woman who was bleeding for 12 years touched the edge of Jesus’ cloak and immediately her bleeding stopped. When Jesus arrived at the house of Jairus, all the people were wailing and mourning for her. Jesus, together with John and James and the child’s father and mother, went inside the room. Jesus took her by the hand and told the child to get up. Her spirit returned and at once she stood up.[:]
