[:en]Thoughts from 1 Samuel 12[:zh]Thoughts [:]

[:en]Farewell speech of Samuel:

  1.  You now have a king as your leader.  As I am old and gray, my conscience is clear because I never oppress people or accept any bribe.
  2. The history of Israel showed that the hand of the Lord was with them when they obeyed, but it was against them when they rebelled. (v. 8-15).
  3. I have called upon the Lord to send thunder and rain to show to you that it was an evil thing to Him when you ask for a king (v. 19)
  4. But do not be afraid that you have done this evil.  Do not turn away from the Lord, but serve Him with all your heart.  Do not turn away after useless idols for they can do you no good, nor can they rescue you. (vs. 20-21)

“But be sure to fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart, consider what great things he had done for you” (v. 24)[:]
