[:en]Paul stated that he did not send letters of recommentation because believers themselves are the letters for Christ, written with the spirit of God on tablets of human hearts. He credited his accomplishments to God, for no human being can take credit for people’s concern. It is the work of the Spirit that gives life.
THE GLORY OF THE NEW COVENANT (vs. 7-18)
Paul made a comparison between the 10 commandments with the new covenant. The law that leads to death was glorious, but God’s plan that gives us life through His Spirit is more glorious. Jesus’ sacrifice is more glorious than the Old Testament system of sacrifice. Christianity is more superior to any other religion. The law condemned us but the new covenant fulfilled the promise when Christ came to make us right with God.
Moses put a veil over his face to keep the people from being terrified by the brightness of his face and from seeing the radiance fading away. But when anyone becomes a Christian, the veil is stripped off giving eternal life and freedom from bondage. That person can be like a mirror reflecting God’s glory.
When we turn to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit. He provides us freedom from sin and condemnation. “And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into His likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord who is the Spirit” (v. 18)[:]
