[:en]Thoughts from Galatians 1[:]

[:en]This letter was written by Paul to the church of Galatia.  This church has false teachers called Judaizers who taught that Gentiles believers must obey the Jewish law in order to be saved.  They also did not recognize the authority of Paul.

NO OTHER GOSPEL (vs. 6-10)

The zealous and extreme Jewish Christians called the Judaizers believed that the Old testament practices, such as circumcision and dietary restrictions were required of all believers.  They taught that fiaht in Christ was not enough.  They must follow the Jewish customs in order to be saved.  Buyt Paul was teaching the simple truth that salvation for Jews and Gentiles is through faith in Christ alone.  The strongly denounced the twisting of the Good News of Christ by the Judaizers that did not match the word of God.  He used strong language and invoked a curse on those who preach special false teachings.  He was not seeking to please men but rather for God’s approval.

PAUL CALLED BY GOD ( vs. 11-24)

Paul aseerted his authority by furnishing his credentials.  He received message directly from Christ (v. 12).  He was a Judaizer persecuting the church of God before (v. 14).  God revealed His Son to him (vs. 15-16).  His ministry was confirmed by the other apostles (vs. 18).  His changed life had brought praise from those ho save him or heard about him.[:]
