[:en]God told Samuel to stop mourning for Saul and to set his way to Jesse of Bethlehem. When he arrived, he consecrated Jesse and his sons and invited them to the sacrifice. Jesse had seven of his sons passed by Samuel but the Lord had not chosen any. The only youngest son left was David, who was tending the sheep. He was brought in and Samuel anointed him in the presence of his brothers and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David.
“Do not consider his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things men looks. Man looks at the outward appearance bu the Lord look at the heart” (v. 7)
Saul was tormented by an evil spirit. So David was called into the King’s presence to play the harp. He was given the opportunity to enter into the king’s palace in preparation for him to be the king of Israel in the future.
