[:en]Thoughts from Hebrews 6[:]

[:en]What are the elementary teachings about Christ?  These are basic teachings that include the importance of faith, salvation by faith not by work, the meaning of baptisim, spititual gifts, resurrection and eternal life.  Christians should understand  that Christ is the perfect Priest and the fulfillment of all the Old Testament prophecies.  They should not argue about Judaism and Christianity.  Instead they should depend on Christ and live for Him.

Some pagan investigated Christianity and went back to paganism.  Other Jewish Christians decided to return to Judaim cutting themselves off from God’s forgiveness. Those who persevere in believing are true saints while those who continue to reject Christ are unbelievers and will not be saved.

The author warned against hardness of heart that would make repentance impossible.  Land that produces good crops receives good care, but land that produces thistle and thorns had to be burned down.  God condemns unproductive Christians.  We are not saved by work but what we do is theevidence of our faith.

God will not forget your work and the love you show him as you continue to help His people.  He is never unjust.  You may not receive rewards or recognition at present but He knows your efforts of love and ministy.  Let God’s love bolster you as you face disappointment and rejection on earth.  Let hope be your inspiration so that you wil not become lazy.   Imitate those who through faith and patience had inherited what has been promised.

THE CERTAINTY OF GOD’S PROMISE (vs. 13-20)

God promised to bless Abraham and give him many descendants.  After waiting patiently, he received what was promised.

An unchanging and trustworthy God confirms what was promised with an oath.  God is truth.  Therefore He cannot lie.  Our hope is secured and immovable, anchored in God.  The true seekers who comes to God in belief will be accepted by Him.  This truth gives us encouragement, assurance and confidence.

In Old Testament times, a curtain was hung across the entrance from the Holy place to the Most Holy Place.  Only the High Priest can enter there once a year to stand in God’s presence and atone for the sins of the entrie nation.  But Christ has become a High Priest forever in the order of Melchizedek, who can continually intercede for us.[:]
